Hello, my name is Stefanie (she/her). I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in my final year of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. As part of my commitment to ongoing professional development, I have completed additional training in Perinatal Mental Health and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I am dedicated to supporting individuals and couples to rediscover their authentic selves and uncover the barriers that prevent deep connection with ourselves and our loved ones. I am passionate about co-creating a space with clients wherein they can explore and clarify what is and isn’t working, and how to work towards their desired changes.
How I can help
Using a holistic model and integrative therapeutic approach, I help clients ground themselves in the here and now and get curious about their areas of stuckness and how to forge new ways of being. My style is attentive, collaborative, culturally sensitive and playful. I incorporate creative and mind/body interventions, such as mindfulness and journaling, to help clients attune to their full range of emotions, intuition, and sensory experiences.
My approach
My approach to therapy is relational, client-centred, and culturally sensitive. Relational means practicing authenticity and paying close attention to our therapeutic relationship. I will encourage you to share your honest feelings and experiences and will respond with empathy, non-judgement, and understanding. Client-centred means that you are the expert on your own life and I am merely a facilitator guiding your self-discovery journey. By being culturally sensitive, I will strive to understand your background, values, and beliefs concerning your ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, and any other identities that are important to you.
More about me
On a personal note, I have been on the client side of therapy and commend you for taking this brave and empowering step. After experiencing a lot of personal hardship, involving a difficult marriage and a third-trimester pregnancy loss, therapy helped me to reconnect with my sense of self and heal. In turn, it also enabled me to be a more present and emotionally attuned parent.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing with my daughter, antique shopping with my partner, as well as creative writing, art making, and yoga.
